Development of Christian Home Education Association of Korea , CHEA

Three years ago at the conclusion of Korea’s first home education conference, a ministry was formed to help facilitate nation wide networking of home school families throughout Korea. This organization, the Christian Home Education Association of Korea (CHEA), was formed by a pioneering group of pastors and Christian leaders who committed themselves to beginning home education in their homes and to sharing this vision with others. During the past several years, this ministry has been involved in facilitating national home education conferences, regional seminars, and special home school ing camps .

The ministry has a fourfold focus :

• Facilitating nationwide networking of home educating families.
• Disseminating information on curriculums and resources for the home school community .
• Providing seminars, conferences, and special trainings on home education.
• Legal support and defense of home schooling families .

As the ministry has grown, so has the need for better organization and team working. Although for the past years, CHEA has functioned solely through the volunteer efforts of parents, now it is time to expand the ministry through the hiring of a fulltime staff member. This staff member will fulfill a huge need in the ministry by assisting with the following needs:

• Translating important information and training materials for distribution through the ministry website .
• Coordination of events and activities.
• Organizing ministry volunteer efforts.
• Developing additional ministr y services and benefits for families.

The Christian Home Education Association of Korea (CHEA) is growing! With this growth comes added responsibility and the need for staff, we are asking the Lord this year for one new fulltime staff member who can help coordinate the activities of our other volunteer parents.
