“An Ounce of Experience is Worth a Ton of Theory”

This maxim is certainly just as true today as when Benjamin Franklin first spoke it over two hundred years ago. As the home school movement in Korea continues to develop, we have seen this truth confirmed even more. The Koreans learn best through opportunities that allow them to directly experience an aspect of home schooling. Seminars and conferences are important, but limited in their ability to provide this kind of experience. However, home school home-stay has proven to be one of the fastest, most effective ways to pass on home school vision and techniques to new families.

This ministry involves actually inviting a family into the home to experience first-hand the outworking of a daily home school schedule – everything from quiet times, family worship, chores, home school studies, activities , and family times. This ministry has proven very successful. As the new home school family follows a more experienced home school family in all of the various aspects of how the ir home education takes place, a mind set and life style is passed on . This would be very difficult to accomplish through words alone. After two days of such experience the tremendous result is greatly apparent in the life of the visiting family – better confirmation, confirmed conviction , a nd greater confidence.

We pray that God will give families in the US a burden for this kind of ministry and a willingness to open their homes to families who would experience the life-changing potential of homeschool home stay. We also seek for the Lord to bring more families to Korea where they can open their home more easily to greater numbers of Korea families who are eager to learn. Pray as a family and determine if the Lord is calling you to this kind of family ministry.
